CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

There's a month left to Christmas!
Christmas films on TV, Christmas decoration in each window of each shop.... Yes, it is really coming.

I've always loved Christmas as is the time of the year that I get presents: it's my birthday and Christmas Day, and, if I am lucky, I also have a present from "El día de los reyes magos".
However, apart from this, I love the lovely athmosphere that is around people ( although I have to study for my January exams). I love all kind of decoration: the lights, the tree... And I love gathering with my family because it's the only time of the year when we can really be ALL together.

Some people don't like Christmas and all its things maybe because of something that happened in the past during Christmas or just because they have more work than during all the year.

I don't know if other people live this time of the year as I live it. People have other ways to celebrate it, but, from my point of view, all of them are good ways.
Christmas can have different meanings for each of us: something to do with religion; a time to get a rest; a time to be with all your family; or even non-sense time.

I don't really know what it means for me, I just know that I feel quite happy when this time comes and I celebrate it with my family and friends ( even though since last year I have to study really hard during these days).

HALLOWEEN

During years, I celebrated Halloween at school. We used to paint pumpkins or draw them, then brought them home and put them on our doors. We also played the typical " Treat or trick" and just in some cases we wore a witch costume or a gohst costume. And when I was I child I saw films where the children went house by house asking for sweets and I just wanted to celebrate Halloween in that way, in the way Americans used to celebrate it.
Nowadays people has commercialized this tradition and, from my point of view, they do this just for money.
Now you can find Halloween things at the supermarket, such as sweet boxes or pies with pumpkin shapes; there are also some advertisements on TV that announce this kind of products or fancy dresses.
People in Spain has adapted this tradition, but what I always wonder which is the real meaning of this celebration. It is called, at least in Spain, "Witches' night"... And the day after it is "All saints day", and everybody goes to the cementry to bring flowers to their relatives....
I just cannot understand it.

"Today I don't feel like doing anything..."

Like Bruno Mars' song, today is one of the days when you get up and, although it's holidays, you don't feel like doing anything.
Yesterday I thought " tomorrow I'll take profit and I will do a lot of things: I'll study, I'll read American Literature...". But when I woke up this morning I just felt like the song.
Who hasn't ever felt like that? And I was lucky that today were no lessons! Because if there had been lessons today, I would have been complaining aaall the day.
That's all for today guys... I don't feel like doing anything else.

... ME

Well, first of all I want to say that I've never written a blog and I don't know how it really works.
Now that I've said it, let me start.
My name is Alba. For those who don't know Spanish, it means "dawn" in English. I'm eighteen and I live in Carlet, a nice town near Valencia. However, I share a flat with three friends in Valencia.
I've always liked languages and that's the reason why I am studying an English Degree at University.
At weekends, I usually meet my friends and we like going to other towns as in my town there are no pubs or somewhere to go with friends.
I don't have any hobbies, but in my free time I like doing some kind of sport or just listening to music. I love travelling and I would like to visit Italy next summer.
